No installation costs - simply connect the devices with the ethernet cable and you're done. PoE Technology is safe and will not damage equipment. Even if your equipment is not built to receive Power over Ethernet, PoE won't damage it. When devices are connected, PSE (power sourcing equipment) tries to establish a handshake protocol. If that succeeds, the PSE will start sending power to the PD (Powered Device), but if it fails it will not send power.
A simple PoE setup is when a powered device is connected directly to a power-sourcing equipment with an Ethernet cable. This is the most common use case in situations where the devices are less than 100m (328 ft) away.
One of the biggest limitations for PoE is that the standard length of the twisted-pair cabling system is 100m: however, this limitation is only set by the physical length of the cable.
